What’s The Difference Between YouTube TV And Google TV
Google announces the Google TV application at the end of September 2020 in an effort to better compete with Apple TV, Roku, and other special platforms. Unfortunately, having a “TV” in the name immediately draw comparisons to Youtube TV, along with questions about the difference between the two products.
Youtube TV is a TV streaming platform, giving customers a way to cut ropes from traditional cables and satellite TV, while still enjoying their favorite local channel, sports and entertainment live broadcasts.
This service quickly became one of the top streaming platforms thanks to its features that offer customers. While companies such as TV Sling, Fubotv, Hulu with live TV, and others offer limited Cloud DVR space with options to improve, TV YouTube provides customers without limit (via Google). The service also includes profiles, allowing up to five additional members on the account (through Google), giving each of their own DVR spaces and favorite channels.
How Google TV is different from Youtube TV
Unlike YouTube TV, Google TV is designed to be an interface for all watching TV online customers. Google TV is built on top, and will eventually replace, Android TV.
Shalina Govil-Pai, VP Android TV and Google TV, told streamable that Google TV was more in line with Google’s vision rather than its Android TV precursor.
“The experience we carry with Google TV is far more aligned with Google as a whole,” said Govil-pai. “The term Google TV comes because it is very aligned with Google Mission – in terms of personalized recommendations, in terms of searching and discovery, in terms of world content integration at your fingertips.”
To continue that vision, Google released a Chromecast device that was updated with Google TV installed, and worked with Smart TV manufacturers to have previously installed applications on the device.
Just like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV, Google TV provides a way for customers to integrate and manage their TV and TV streaming applications, including Netflix, Disney +, Peacock, HBO Max, and of course youtube TV (via Google).
